Conventional culture and EIA for Shiga Toxin 1&2

Clinical Utilities

Detection of bacterial pathogens from stool specimens and useful for detecting Shiga Toxins from EHEC 0157:H7 and other serotypes.

CPT Codes

87045, 87046x2 are applicable for all stool cultures.
87015 and 87427x2 (Shiga Toxin) not applicable and not billed for when cultures exhibit no normal GI flora.

Reference Range

Negative for Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, E.coli 0157, and negative for a Yersinia screen.
Negative for Shigatoxin 1 and Shigatoxin 2.
