Only approved for gynecologic specimens. Cervical specimens must be collected prior to the application of acetic acid or iodine if colposcopic examination is being performed. PreservCyt specimens that have been treated for blood with acetic acid are not acceptable.

Specimen Acceptability

Ensure proper ICD-9 coding for screen testing when ordering HPV Cotesting with a PAP, vs. Reflex testing from a cytology result of Ascus or greater.

Each specimen submitted for High Risk HPV testing by this technology will be tested for High-risk HPV types 16,18, and other HPV High Risk Types 31,33,35,39,45,51,52,56,58,59,66,68.
High-risk types of HPV are found in more than 99.7% of cancers of the cervix.
