Pediatric:
100 uL to 3 mL SPS yellow top vacutainers or in Redox 1 bottle.
SPS yellow top vacutainers stable 4 hours ambient.
SPS stable 4 hours and Redox 1 bottle stable 24 hours ambient.
NOTE:
Time date of draw must be given on the appropriate form.
Indicate on request form any antibiotics the patient is on when order is placed.
Inpatient:
Order a blood culture draw. This will allow the lab phlebotomy staff to go to draw cultures. It is recommended blood cultures be ordered at least x 2.

Media for blood cultures is available from the MGH laboratory collect in Redox 1 bottle.
