Clinical Utilities
The Watson-Schwartz Test detects porphobilinogen and urobilinogen and differentiates them by means of their solubility.
NOTE: Porphobilinogen is susceptible to degradation at high temperatures, at ph <5.0, and on prolonged exposure to light. Specimen should be protected from light and sent to lab immediately for processing.
