CLIENT SERVICES
Our Client Services section is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 4 P.M.. After hours, any concerns may be directed to our Specimen Processing Department. It is our goal to make sure our clients are satisfied with our services, and that their issues are resolved in a timely manner with the help of one of our personable Client Service Representatives. Their area is inspected on a regular basis by JCAHO.
CYTOGENETIC & MOLECULAR PATHOLOGY
We offer an extensive array of conventional cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic services, including conventional cytogenetics and fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH) testing for both congenital and hematological specimens, we can provide accurate results in impressive turn around time, and giving you the answers you need to provide the best patient care possible.
CYTOLOGY
MGHS offers clients a variety of Cytology Service options, including the ability to request "prep-only" services for Thin Prep® Pap Tests, cytotech "technical" coverage (i.e. abnormal paps & QC referred to your pathologist), full-service Pap screening, and in-house reflex HPV typing. Additionally, we are happy to provide clients with cytology coverage on a temporary basis.
VETERINARY SERVICES
Our veterinary patients are very important to us. We provide a full range of diagnostic laboratory testing to meet the specialized needs of veterinary professionals.
MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTICS
We offer amplified DNA probe testing for Chlamydia and GC, Real-Time PCR Viral Load for HIV, HCV, and HBV, Hybrid Capture for HPV high risk genotypes, and PCR for MRSA, Clostridium difficile Toxin B, Enterovirus in CSF, and GBS screening during pregnancy.
MICROBIOLOGY
Our Microbiology Section provides comprehensive services in aerobic and anaerobic bacterial identification, aerobic susceptibility testing, yeast identification, parasite identification, mycobacterial smears, Herpes group virus cultures (HSV & VZV), rapid testing, and a variety of molecular diagnostics.
TRANSFUSION SERVICES
Some of the tests performed in Transfusion Service include ABO/RH, antibody screening and identification, direct coombs testing, and antibody titers. We also perform compatibility testing, and the preparation of blood products for patients requiring transfusions. Our Transfusion Service also serves as a reference laboratory for 12 other hospitals in the Upper Peninsula, providing compatible blood products for their patients.
